Solution
It also depends on what is left in stock and not back ordered, anything above a 1060 is getting hard to find even Newegg can't keep them stocked. Lets also look at $$$, Prices on everything above 1050's have gone up 30% to 60% since last week and will continue to climb until mining becomes much less profitable.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC GAMING...Great cooling and raw power even though EVGA PrecisionXOC is a pain in the ass

ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX...Great cooling and a little less powerful but GPU Tweak II is unstable, The fans get damn loud under heavy load.

MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X...Still good cooling but less OC potential, the OC software is the best of the pack, easy to use and wont crash.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080...
Does your case have good airflow? If so take any open air cooler(not a blower like the reference model) Go with the cheapest one they are mostly the same, but Gigabyte's are a bit louder than the others, MSI (GamingX) and Asus (Strix) tend to be quietest with good performance (cooling performance not FPS performance).

If case airflow is so-so:
Get MSI GaminX, ASUS Strix or EVGA SC.

If Bad airflow:
Get cheapest blower.

I would time travel and buy one in November, 2017. The prices are through-the-roof right now because of a cryptocurrency craze. Heck, you might as well buy this for the going prices on 1080's: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/star-wars-jedi-order-titan-xp-collectors-edition/

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme.. Still good cooling, good OC potential, Okay OC software but fans are again loud under load.

The EVGA card is the best overall for a single card setup, the MSI is the best for SLI or multiple card mining since the size of the card doesn't hinder the cooling as much as the others cards do. The other cards.. it really depends on the price and what you are willing to pay.

How is gpu tweak 2 unstable? I have a 1070ti and have overclocked my card substantially, 2063 core clock and 9040 memory clock and have had 0 issues. Also fans are not loud by any means. Maybe I won the GPU lottery, but I havent had any issues with my strix 970 or 1070ti!

Yes. 1x 6+2-pin = 1x 8-pin.

I do not believe prices will go higher than now, because now the only prices are sky high because of very little stock. When new stock comes in, the GPU prices will go back down. But they may still be higher than they were before they began to rise again.

So, GTX 1080 that was $549 before might be $579 or even $599, when stock becomes available again.

"Stock Comes in" Your not taking inconsideration the RAM supply issue this affects GPU's as well so new cards can't be made as fast when the majority of the production is heading to the mobile market first. 2-3 months is a "Hope so" estimate but yeah eventually they will drop. Can they go higher? Yes as long as the demand outweighs the supply then the prices will continue to get stupid.
