Which is better, speed vs latency

A friend of mine recently purchased some 1866Mhz Corsair memory, I guess he didn't check his motherboards specs which only supports 1600 so he is running it under clocked.

I just ordered a Asus Z97-A which should be able to make use of the speed. He offered to swap his memory for the 1600 Mhz G.SKILL with slightly low timings that I intended to put into my build.

So I'm asking which would I be better off with the 1600 9-9-9-24 G.SKILL or the 1866 9-10-9-27 Corsair?

I'll mostly be gaming and I'll also be using an i5-4690k if it matters.

If your mobo supports, its always better to get the fastest ram. In the real life you wont notice the difference. Your friend can still run is 1866 mhz ram with no problem. If you want to switch it will work and be techinically faster on paper than 1600 mhz.

Bandwidth > latency except in the most extreme cases
