Which Memory between these two?

For my ongoing new build, which OCZ Memory sticks would be better between these two:

1) OCZ OCZ3G1600LV6GK SDRAM DDR3 1600 - Timing 8-8-8-24

or

2) OCZ OCZ3P1600LV6GK 6GB (DDR3-1600+) Timing 7-7-7-20

Would that timing make a difference with an i7 920 DO stepping topped with a Noctua NH-U12P heatsink and a planned mild overclock of 3.3?

Please note that I have already posted about this in the Memory Forum but traffic is not as heavy there as it is on this thread. If I have overstepped the bounds by doing this, my apologies.

When you say Platinum, you mean these at 7-7-7-24?

Yea, I didnt see the zipzoomfly one, it looked the same as the one on newegg which is 7-7-7-24.

those numbers are how many clock cycles it takes to perform the respective step

I would recommend you learn what latency timings are and do for RAM. You can ask everyone in the world which RAM to purchase but unless you understand how they truly work, you will be guided by only peoples opinions.

After some digging, I realized that the 8-8-8-24 is the Gold Edition and that the 7-7-7-24 is the Platinum Edition.

I also realize that most people seems to prefer the Gold Edition. 87% vs 79%.

Too bad Corsair sells for almost double the price.

So, i will get the OCZ 8-8-8-24 Gold Edition.
