hi fellas
i needed some expert advice for upgrading my system ram, as for most of applications e.g. mozilla, they use up a lot of ram and system starts using page files and hence the speed is greatly affected.
my laptop is hp pavillion dv1615ts
i currently have pc2700 DDR RAM - 512MB and i wish to upgrade to 1 GB
the essential system specs are:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.70GHz
Core Speed = 1697.6 MHz
Multiplier x FSB = 17.0 x 99.9 MHz
Rated Bus speed = 399.4 MHz
Chipset:
Northbridge Intel i915GMS/i910GML rev. 03
Southbridge Intel 82801FBM (ICH6-M) rev. 03
Memory Type DDR
Memory Size 512 MBytes
Channels Single
Memory Frequency 166.4 MHz (3:5)
CAS# latency (CL) 2.5
RAS# to CAS# delay (tRCD) 3
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 3
Cycle Time (tRAS) 7
Memory SPD:
DIMM # 1
SMBus address 0x51
Memory type DDR
Manufacturer (ID) Nanya Technology (7F7F7F0B00000000)
Size 512 MBytes
Max bandwidth PC2700 (166 MHz)
Part number NT512D64SH8B0GN-6K
Number of banks 2
Data width 64 bits
Correction None
Registered no
Buffered no
Nominal Voltage 2.50 Volts
EPP no
XMP no
JEDEC timings table CL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRC @ frequency
JEDEC #1 2.0-3-3-6-n.a. @ 133 MHz
JEDEC #2 2.5-3-3-7-n.a. @ 166 MHz
Also,
DMI Processor
manufacturer Intel
model Intel(R) Pentium(R) M
clock speed 1700.0 MHz
FSB speed 400.0 MHz
multiplier 4.5x
DMI Physical Memory Array
location Motherboard
usage System Memory
correction None
max capacity 2048 MBytes
max# of devices 2
DMI Memory Device
designation DIMM 1
format DIMM
type DDR
DMI Memory Device
designation DIMM 2
format DIMM
type DDR
total width 64 bits
data width 64 bits
size 512 MBytes
Also, i have heard that my motherboard also supports DDR2 RAM, but doesn't it have different connector? How will it fit in?
Since DDR2 RAMs are cheaper and faster i would like a DDR2 upgrade if possible.
Please suggest possible options.
Thanks.
