Which microsoft picture it express version is compatible with windows xp

Hello, I loved... Picture It Express 200 but it won't download without internet explorer 5.0 on my computer (windows xp professional, service pack 3, internet explorer 7.0).
Anyone know which picture it express would be compatible with my computer or how to get internet explorer 5.0 to download along side the existing 7.0?

It's getting on a bit now isn't it? If there's no more modern alternative, try looking in XP's Help and Support Centre from your Start button and pop Compatibility Mode in the search box. That explains how you might persuade XP to emulate an earlier version of Windows for the use of a particular programme.

Microsoft Picture It! is a discontinued photo editing application created by Microsoft. Version 1.0 was released in September 1996. Borrowing from the wizard user interface concepts of Microsoft Publisher, Picture It! was geared to make digital imaging easy for consumers. It was the first consumer imaging program to enable sprite creation, leveraging alpha masking (a concept published by Alvy Ray Smith, founder of Pixar, in 1978) while running on an 8 MB RAM Pentium computer. Microsoft purchased Altamira Software, the company owned by Alvy Ray Smith in 1994 and made Alvy Ray Smith, a Microsoft fellow.

TO DOWNLOAD PICTURE IT EXPRESS 2000
you need to
FIRST put the Microsoft Works Suite 2000 Disc 1 in to your cd drive.
SELECT custom installation.
(it will then tell you to put the next CD in)
THEN put in the Disc 2 (that has Picture It Express 2000 on the cover).

THAT IS THE ANSWER.
It would be good if people who gave these answers actually had DONE IT,
as I have.

Am trying to save the next poor schmuck from my same 5 hours of following wrong information.

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

Sadly, and apparently unlike yourself, some of us do not profess to know it all and give the best advice we can, without being rude, when no-one has come up with anything better.

The Windows Compatibility Mode usually gets around problems like a request to go back to IE 5 but I can't quite see how your method works around that.

It's also possible that the original poster (two months back, now) doesn't have MS Works and was therefore trying to download PictureIt.
