Question Which way should a laptop cooler throw heat ?

I just bought a laptop cooling pad (Targus HD3 Gaming Chill Mat) and it throws air into my laptop, I don't know if it is good or bad ?

It would seem bad. The fan inside the laptop is designed to remove heat from the case. Somewhere there should be a vent that the warm air escapes from.

All laptop coolers afaik blow cold air to the back of the laptop so it can cool components as hot air comes out the back.
Why would this be bad?
It's doing what it should be, cold air in, laptop expels hot air
