Hi, I'm trying to figure out which computer to go with.
System is obviously geared towards gaming...
#1 AMD
Processor AMD Phenom(TM) II X4 945 quad-core processor [3.0GHz, 2MB L2 + 6MB L3 shared, up to 4000MT/s]
Memory 6GB DDR2-800MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs]
Hard drive 640GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from 500G
Graphics card 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4850 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters]
Price $847.59
#2 Intel
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-920 processor (2.66GHz, 1MB L2 + 8MB shared L3 cache with QPI Technology)
Memory 6GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs]
Hard drive 640GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from 500GB
Graphics card 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4850 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters]
Price $995.99
The rest is irrelevant base stuff.
Obviously there is a ~$150 price difference. The question is really if the Intel system justifies the $150 increase.
Or is there a better system you would recommend based on the above pricing? I get a pretty good deal from HP for affiliate discount so it was my first stop.
Other systems I've seen that interest me in this range from custom PC builders:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4485017&CatId=3478
I'm not sure how all the different gadgets in the custom PCs stack up.
Thanks for any opinions,
Erik
