Whirlwind, Whodunnit, or Haunted House?

I have room in my games room for one more pinball, and I'm torn between
these three...

1. Whirlwind, because I have loved playfield spinners every since I
first played Fireball,

or

2. Whodunnit, because I like the added challenge and 'complexity' of
solving a crime while playing a game.

or

3. Haunted House, because a 3 level playfield sounds way cool.

In your experience, which is the better and most enjoyable pin of these 3?

Cheers,
V

I have all 3 machines in my collection. While all 3 are decent games,
IMHO Whirlwind would be the one to add to the line-up. W?D is a decent
game, but gets to be repetitive. Haunted House is a novelty, as all of
my guests play that one first, but quickly move on to the others.

My vote is for Whirlwind

I personally love Who Dunnit. I think its a very underrated machine.

Play it a few times and you'll see what I mean

I own Who Dunnit and think it is a very fun game. It is my wife's
favorite hands down in our collection. Can't go wrong with Whirlwind
though.

i've owned all three (and sold them all, have a limit of 3 pins at home so
they come and go)

1: whirlwind: great pin! easy rules, very challenging play! learn to
juggle 2 balls and hit the multi millions ramp and you are on your way to
becoming a pin wizard. took a while for me to be ready to sell this one.

2: whodunnit, i love the pf layout, but the rules... the rules blow. gets
old quick. and after a bit you just need to listen for one word to solve
the mystery, so there is ZERO challenge in that. hitting the phone right
away to max out the jackpots is kinda cool. DMD game, so it offers more
"stuff" than whirlwind, but not as much replay-ability imho

3: haunted house: fun if you like to tinker! i like the look and the 3
pfs, but for the money black hole is a better game. i actually liked the
game more when the rings were shot and the ball didn't bounce around on
the upper pf very much, made the game harder.

- whirlwind stayed in the house much longer than either of the other two

Really all depends on what you want, and what you already have.

If you're looking for a classic early 80's pin to be a staple in your
collection, HH is one of the best.

If you're looking for "disposable" pins that you'll rotate after a
short while, either of the other two will do just fine.

LIke others said, "Whirlwind". Whodunnit gets old FAST. HH is alright,
but not even close to Whirlwind. Whirldwind a much better game: great
sounds, excellent art, outstanding rules, and challenging to boot 🙂.
Yes, you can argue HH has great sounds (it does) and nice artwork, but
the gameplay of Whirlwind is MUCH better.

HH, but not the least troublesome. Much
work has to be done to make one solid.

Simple game, and that adds to the attraction
for me. (Guests like it, too.)

Haunted House is a Gottlieb, and if not grounded very thoroughly, can be a
problem.

Whodunnit is ok, but I love my Whirlwind pin too. Everybody and their
brother wants to buy it from me. Not happening.

Wal-mart and an indoor flea market had one years ago across town, and I
remember the game every bit as well when I finally bought mine at The York
Show. http://www.theyorkshow.com from M & P Amusements, just a couple blocks
from the York fairgrounds and the show. I took pics at the show as I found
the game and Mike and his partner from M & P are wrapping up the pin for me
to put on the rental.

Whirlwind. HH is cool but you will probably need to do alot to keep it
playing well. Other pins have come and gone, but not Whirlwind, ever!

Gotta throw another Whirlwind vote atcha'. Just finished shopping one
to sell. Jeez, I'll miss it... HH is great, and a good one is a keeper,
but it's more of a commitment. Who Done It? Good game... But it stops
there.

Amen brother!
I only wish when Hurricane Isabel came roaring through here, I could have
had my Whirlwind back then. Can you imagine, the wind whipping outside, and
the fan from Whirlwind inside?
