Question White screen underneath "protective film/layer"?

I just received my new monitor(AOC c24g1). When I set everything up, I saw that there was a protective film on the screen,... or so I thought..Since the monitor was on, I immediately saw that underneath the "protective film" the screen was just white. So I suppose it isn't a protective film after all. What's weird is that I was able to peel it off quite easily. Does anyone know if this is normal/ What should I do?

That almost looks like a privacy shield, more than a protective film, due to its thickness. It also looks like you can't see the icon for the recycle bin when you peel the film away. Is that correct?

Did you purchase the new or was it previously used by someone else?

Yes that's correct! Under the film the screen is completely white.
I bought it new from amazon.

Looks like part of the display surface then. I would exchange this one as it is now defective. Truly odd to see that on the exterior surface of the bezel. Maybe a manufacturing defect or just poor design?
