WEI is obviously shanked out prison style

6.4 - qx6800.... cmon as if its only 6.4
6.4 - 4gb ddr2 800
7.3 - asus 4850 512
7.3 - " "
5.9 - 500gb Seagate Sata 2 16mb cache

how is it possibly that a single card solution is topping sli and crossfire configs i have seen in previous posts.

seriously faulty sh!t

Hah yeah well my Q8200 has 7.1 and yours QX6800 has 6.4(!!)
Also like you said how can a two GTX260 in SLI be not that more powerful than a single HD4850 ( i also have HD4850 just mine is 1GB GDDR3 and it's an OC Edition but i have the same score - 7.3)

I think Microsoft has to seriously think about WEI optimizations.

You don't NEED a SSD to get a higher than 5.9 for the hard drive score

I dont agree , I tried about every setup and could never reach 7.9 unless I used 2 X25-M G2 SSD in Raid0

+1. With 2 WD velociraptor in RAID 0 you can get 6.3 or 6.4.

5.9 5000+ BE @ 2.8 (lets the system down a lot)
7.1 2x2 DDR2 @ about 900mhz
7.0 aero and gaming 3870x2 (why so high? I don't know)
6.9 Crucial M225 64GB

windows 7 64

CPU i7 860 OC to 3.8Ghz = 7.6 [26C idle] (36C 20H full load (p95 X64)]
Memory 8GB kingston hyperX OC to 2133Mhz = 7.9
graphics/gaming ATI Radeon 5870 OC to 1240 core, 1560 memory 2.12V = 7.9 [40C idle 62C full load] (rthdribl 20H)
HDD 3 intel 80GB X-25 Raid 0 on ARC-1231ML raid controller = 7.9

mosfet sits at 50C idle and 65-70C full load. im looking into some more fans to fit on the sinks or a water block for them.

stock scores were

CPU = 7.4
RAM = 7.4
GPU = 7.8
HDD = 7.9

im still trying to OC the cpu to 4.6Ghz ish but not there yet... single loop tri 120 LCS. CPU is currently running at X20 multi with a 3.1qpi and 1.36V. currently in week 1 of system build :p

I didn't say mechanical hard drives could reach 7.9, but I did say it is possible to get them above 5.9. Yes, to achieve 7.9 you probably do need a SSD or multiple SSDs in RAID... however, even SSDs can be capped at 5.9 if they rely on their cache. Whether you agree or not, MS has officially stated that drives using their cache to buffer read / writes without actually committing them to the drive will be capped at 5.9. The hard drive could actually be performing much better than the WEI score indicates... but because of the way it uses it's cache, it's capped.

Hi I know this post is old ...but I too have intrust in my windows 7 score. for anyone reading this now, here is mine.

System- RATING
Intel QX9650 3.0 ghz @ 3.6.7 ghz 7.4
Corsair DDR2 8 gig at 5-6-6-18 7.4
Windows graphics 7.7
BFG 295 GTX Video Card Graphics gaming 7.7
Hard drive seagarte sata 72000 32mb buffer 5.9

Giving me a top window 7 score of- 5.9

How do I find a higher scoring hard drive ???? :cry:
Please help!

Thank you,
Paul

Once again... since no one seems to read before they post...

Mechanical hard drives are ARTIFICIALLY capped at 5.9... especially drives that overuse their cache. The ONLY advantage SSD drives have is their seek times... they are still limited to the speed of the interface just like mechanical drives. Just because your drive scores a 5.9 in Windows 7 doesn't mean it's a slow drive and rushing out to buy a SSD to get that ever-elusive 7.9 in the hard drive score is a waste of money. Get a good mechanical drive with plenty of cache and you'll be fine. My RAID 0 array scored 5.9 in Vista and it scores exactly the same in Win 7. (Two 500GB drives with 32MB cache). Why would I buy what amounts to a tiny drive in comparison to a nice big drive? Especially when I'd be paying more for that tiny drive for marginally better performance.

Q6600 @3.6ghz---- 7.3
4gb Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800---7.3
EVGA GTX260 216 Superclocked----7.3 for both
WD Caviar Black-----5.9

Overclocked Q6600 to 3.8 (unstable) but could not get above 7.3. And how does my single 260 score higher that sli 285s??
Quite an incompetent way of benchmarking and comparing pcs if you ask me
