Why Adaptec 29160 Ultra 160 is only running at 40 Sync

Hi,

Can anybody tell me why my Adaptec 29160 Ultra 160 controller card is picking up my scsi drives as only 40 Sync and not 160.

Its connected to a bay that can take 5 scsi drives.
Both is connected via a 68pin cable.

I have used all 3 connectors on the card.
It has 2 in front next to each other and the other one is connected at the back of the pc.

In the Adaptec utility settings it shows 160, but when it detects the drives it only pics up 40 Sync.

Why?

Please help

only 3 things I can think of quickly...

drive limitations
cable issue
termination issue

seems like 95% of all SCSI problems I have encountered end up being one of the above 3

Michiganteddybear is correct.

Check list:
1) are the drives Ultra 160 Drives?
2) is the Drive box designed for Ultra 160?
3) Do you have a Ultra 160 SCSI cable?
4) Are both ends terminated? (both on your controller card and after the last drive on the box side?
