[SOLVED] Why am I having BSOD's while launching Minecraft: Java Edition?

Hello,
Recently I tried to launch Minecraft 1.17 and had a BSOD.
I have tried several things like updating my Nvidia drivers, reinstalling Minecraft, launching in safe mode, contacting Minecraft and Microsoft support. Nothing has been able to fix the issue.

On the BSOD it says:

"Stop code: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
What failed: wcifs.sys"


My hardware specs:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB

what antivirus are you using? Do you have malwarebytes installed?

WCIF is the Windows Container Isolation FS Filter Driver.

Antivirus programs can conflict with it.

I have McAfee LiveSafe, McAfee Security Scan Plus and WebAdvisor by Mcafee but I do not have malwarebytes.

Problem solved, had something to do with Minecraft's new launcher and nothing to do with anything else. Thanks for the help though!

90% of the time with the JAVA Edition , the problem is the launcher. Good job resolving the issue.

Had the same issue. I've repaired and reset the Minecraft Launcher, fixed it for me:

• Right click on the Minecraft Launcher icon
• Click "App Settings"
• Click on the buttons "Repair" and "Reset"

[edit] The issue appears again after some time (after a restart or on the next day for me), but repairing/resetting fixes it every time.

What antivirus programme do you have installed on your computer? Is Malwarebytes on your computer?

Windows Container Isolation FS Filter Driver (WCIF) is a driver for Windows Container Isolation FS.

It may clash with anti-virus software.
Excuse me, but I'm having the same issue and haven't been able to locate a cure; could you perhaps describe how you fixed the problem?
