I play fortnite pretty much all the time and get a steady 144 fps, except when every once in a while when I have a frame drop which I'm also not sure about but that's not what I'm asking. So anyways Ill plug in my second monitor and my frames are going crazy just going up and down from 30-144 frames and it makes my game look so much slower. Please let me know if there is anything i can do with my system or if i should upgrade. Thanks!

When you stream your using your CPU (or GPU depending on software) so it's going to be more taxing on your system which can lead to lower performance. Lowering your settings can help reduce FPS dips.

As for the second screen as long as your not gaming on it the screen shouldn't affect your that FPS much (maybe 5 FPS for Netflix/YT/etc). If your main monitor is 144 and your secondary is 60 then you may want to try running the game on your main monitor in full screen windowed and see if that helps.
