Question Why do I not see Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in my Windows 10 settings?

I have a Ryzen 7600X and an RX 7800 XT and yet I do not see this:

I only see this:

I tried manually adding HwSchMode (DWORD in Hexadecimal set to 2) to the registry in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers (as it's shown here) but this did nothing even after a restart.

My mobo is a ASUS ROG Strix B650E-E if that matters.
Both Windows 10 and AMD Adrenalin is up to date.

  1. Click Start, then head to Settings > System.
  2. From the left-hand menu, select Display.
  3. Below Multiple Displays, click Graphics settings.
  4. Turn on the toggle for Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.
  5. Restart your computer.

I know it was tricky to find in Win 11.

Which version/Build of win 10 are you on now?
right click start
choose run...
type winver and press enter

last time I updated Adrenaliin it restarted PC and turned it on for me. I just wasn't sure until I found it was on already.

Hello, I just noticed after a fresh installation of Windows 10 that I also don't see the Hardware Acceleration option in the graphics settings. Subsequently, I tried the same solutions you applied with the registry key entry. Unfortunately, it didn't have any effect for me either. Before this, I had Windows 11 installed, and the Hardware Acceleration option was available there. My setup includes: CPU: 7800x3D, GPU: RX7800XT, Mainboard: MSI B650 Tomahawk Wifi, PSU: 850W Corsair, RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 6000 MHz CL30, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 (19045.3803).

Edit: On AMD's official website for the latest driver version 23.12.1, the following information is provided:

Additional OS Feature Support:Support for Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling for Radeon RX 7900/7800/7700 series GPUs on Windows 11 version 22H2 and newer. For more information, click HERE. Link: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-23-12-1

So I assume that Windows 10 in connection with the new 7000 series graphics cards does not yet have Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) activation, correct? Cause before i switched OS the Option was available in Windows 11 but only on the last 23.12.1 Driver...... So we have to wait for Driver Updates right?

Doing some research for myself the other night on HAGS and MSFS 2020 (I just installed Win11) I found many references to this AMD issue. It appears as though HAGS was removed from the driver after last May or something like that. I'm unsure why and I didn't chase the issue as I'm on Nvidia currently.

It is windows 11 only

HAGS existed in the past on win 10, I saw a screenshot of someone on that screen in Win 10 Pro. Not sure why it was removed.

This drivers only supports HAGS in Windows 11. Even if windows 10 supports hags it also needs to be supported by the driver.

driver only supports it on 11, so even if you have hags enabled in 10, it wouldn't work

AMD reported it didn't help the 6000 series so that is why they didn't get it.

So it's a Win 11 only thing. That's a shame :/
