Why do letters take so long 2 appear after i type

So on both my old Dell Latitude and my new Toshiba Satellite, sometimes what i type does not appear as i type it. it's like the cursor gets hung. then whoosh, suddenly all the letters spill out. This is very annoying. Yes, i type 85 plus words a minute, but it can't be that. I got a much faster computer partly because of this.

Have I added a program that causes this to happen? Is there something I can do to correct this?

Thanks

That depends on if your program is asking for more than what your CPU can handle or you multi-tasking and the CPU is loaded, but if the CPU is loaded soing that I don't think the laptop is very good. Can you find the manual for the laptop and see if you can find 4 GB of SO-RAM for the laptop, it might give the laptop a little more breathing room.

that's my concern. my old computer was a slow dell latitude 830. this is a toshiba satellite a500. these are the specs.
this is just so annoying. does this happen to other folks?

That's is a problem as the Satelite looks like a high end system. Are you using MS Word for this? Otherwise try to turn off anything non-essential though I don't think that's a problem unless you've been hit with a virus.

No, pretty sure it's not a virus. Checked for those. And that's the thing, I need a lot of windows open because I do a lot of different things.

It happens whether I'm typing here or fb or an aol email or word. Just typing wherever. sigh.

Dang that's a bummer, I would tell you to add RAM but you already have 8GB, otherwise a CPU upgrade to the 860 but that is now impossible since you normally can't upgrade laptop CPUs. May or may not help but can you defragment the hard drive?

defragging now. also have run malaware and adaware and spyblaster and mcafee. no probs that should cause this, just the usual uncaught cookies/ad trackers.

i actually have a dell with an 860 but everybody is telling me to send that back and keep the toshiba because the toshiba has a better and larger graphics card, and doesn't have a shared ram. i wanted the fastest computer i could get in a laptop cuz i do so much on my computer.

starting to think no laptop is worth it and maybe i should get a desktop. how i'll work on it have no clue since no place to put a desk. lol

That would depend, the Dell one actually has the better CPU, GPU should only matter if you plan to watch an HD movies most of the time, because the 720 is the bottom of the barrel tyoe of laptop quad-cores in the i7 family. For the desktop here's an idea, keep the desktop on the floor, hang the monitor of the wall, and find a board you can place on your lap for the wireless mouse and keyboard.

I think I'm typing in the wrong spot it says "solution" I don't have one I just wanted to say I've been having same problem for years I can't believe I haven't done anything about it till now, i'm fed up with it taking so long for the words to show up on my screen. Seriously I thought it was the dell keyboard included with the desktop I bought brand new thru Amazon 2014. Couple months ago I was given a Microsoft ergomatic (sp?) keyboard its doing the same. Running windows 7, 64 bit, I know you need the specs, I have nothing stored only games from disks, ton of RAM, no virus. Bunny
