Why do my desktop shortcuts change locations?

Using W7 home premium SP1. Everything is up to date, not running any virtual desktop, just a few widget type apps on my second display.

Sometimes when I do a restart or cold boot, some of my shortcuts have changed locations on the screen and I have to move them back to where I want them. I've never experienced this before until recently and I am looking for assistance on what is causing this. Any suggestions?

Are you playing any games or running any software that will chance the screen resolution. That is one thing that causes icons to move.

You can turn off auto arrange to allow you to place icons any place you like.

I don't change resolutions but sometimes I need to disable crossfire. I am NOT using auto arrange tho

Sometimes when you arrange desktop icons and you don't shutdown your PC correctly, they can revert to how they were as they didn't save there location.
