Why do you choose your respective company (nVidia / ATi)

No option in the poll that says "Whichever is best at the moment". Presently have an ATI 3870, but before that, I had a 8800 GTS 640, and before that, a XTX 1900, and before that, a 7800 GTX and before that, a ATi 9800 Pro. Guess I must be a fanboy of some type.

Nvidia, because my experience with it are :
1. They simply have the faster card especially when AA and AF is mentioned.
2. Better driver support for games "The Way Its Meant to be Played".

Been having bad experience with ATI because of miscellaneous driver conflicts. But I heard they are better at image processing graphic and video. Dunno...

I guess I put the "best for intended use" in the "best at my price point" category. Maybe next time ill add reliability to that list as well. Thanks again for your help.

NVidia TWIMTBP means little besides they get special benefits/opportunites to have patches/beta drivers for the game. ATI had often kicked the crap out of NV in IQ and performance in TWIMTBP games. Just look at Oblivion, and the X19x0 series radeons vs the GF7900's. Nvida at the time was not the way Oblivion should have been played. ATI had FSAA+HDR+ better performance.

OH... And about the wings, all I can say is Cluck U . I gotta wait a few more days and I'll be stuffing myself. They better open on time as a giant order will compliment the Rangers series ender on Friday. Unfortunately I was out tonight and missed their win tonight.

A bigger issue here is what do you use your video card for. We recently installed a Powercolor ( ATI ) AGP 3650 for dual monitor work with sketchup 6 and 7. This card and most we have seen have advanced drivers that have poor open gl support and totally suck for any type of modeling or CAD programs.

Make sure before you buy either an NVidia Or ATI or Powercolor that it supports OGL.

If not it goes straight in the trashcan

nvidia, because i like to be shafted with the company i choose to buy from, i like the way they held on to that SLI licence for grim death, i like the way they hold back game advancement (DX10.1 anyone) and The Way We Are All Being Played, i like how they took on intel with there "can of whoop ass" and only made them self's look stupid in the process, i like the chips they put in all them laptops that give up the ghost when they hit that certain temperature, and most of all, i like the way they stood up and took responsibility for said laptops, and said we don't have any over heating problems.

Nvidia, because my computers have Nvidia chipset system boards with 2 PCI-E slots. Thus, I can SLI on my boards...I can't Crossfire.

First off did you notice that the last post before yours was made 8 months ago?

Second, what possessed you to think that any low-end graphics card was going to have good OpenGL performance? If you want OpenGL performance buy either an ATI FireGL or a Nvidia Quaddro.

Since I got my first computer in 2002, I've had 4 video cards (5, if you want to count the little VIA POS that came with my first Radio Shack noob computer) Here they are, and the reasons I chose them.

nVidia GF2 GTS 32 Mb - given to me so I could play Battlefield 1942

ATI Saphire 9800XT 256 Mb - was fastest card at the time ( and bundled with Half Life 2)

nVidia MSI 7950GX2 1024 Mb - was fastest card at the time

nVidia Asus 9800GTX+ 512 Mb - wanted Asus made card. Chosen for cooling solution

I Choose Ati Because Of their Contribution on Apple Mac Pro And
Their future is even brighter than Nvidia , even they had the Power
To Harass the Welfare center which use Low budget computer
With Sis Chipset And intel chipset . They are even better than Nvidia
in Freedom Force Vs the Third Reich . Less Restart , More Performance.
More 90% Gamut than 60% gamut when used in My soon to be
Student laptop computer named Asustek F8VR1B4S , More hitech
than Apple Macbook pro , Because of this , They are slimer , more avanced than sony Vaio SZ. Acer Timeline also Rumoured to use Ati
They are suitable for Scientific Research, Engineering, Gaming, etc
Nvidia however , Had to sponsor , support UT3 , PhsX , TC GR AW2 ,
Because they , like Sis ,Matrox, Intel had to compensate High demanding
Video games , Games like UAW, TC GR AW2 , UT2004 are already
obsolete . so Choose wisely , because ATI had supported More Games
Than Nvidia , To implement Havok is easier than Iniziate Nvidia PhsX
which require More hardware research , because in High and low
Resolution ,in HD mode are far more appealing, because Semi 3D Video
Games character can behave Childishly , more Secenario can be unlocked
Thanx by HDMI ,Virtual Reality can Appear onto Plasma TV, LCD and
Beyond . In conclusion , ATI is better than Nvidia in terms of Scientific research.
