[SOLVED] Why does my drive keep disconnecting and everything on it crashes, for example steam.

Every now and then about 37 times a day my E: Drive disconnects and its location in my files appears on my screen. Apps running on the drive like Steam and Battle.net crash and then the games i am running crash aswell. Does anybody have a solution for this?

Back up contents of drive.
Test it with SeaTools for Windows:

If errors or faults shown in "Long Test", replace the drive.

I meant to say 3-7 times a day. It is an internal drive and I have not tried a new cable yet. Its just getting to the point where games I am playing will crash and it is getting irritating.

I have the same problem and changing the cables did not work. However, you should try to change the cable first. As for me I have to assess a little bit further before deciding to buy a new HDD. What I meant by did not work is the HDD still disconnect and after reconnect itself windows explorer of related HDD will pop out, but ever since I changed a new cable it only happened in less frequency than previous cable used. The problem is, it still disconnecting.

This can also occur due to overheating. Can you take the side cover off and point a fan at the drive or the insides and see if that helps?
