Why does my wifi appear as default on my phone not wlan?

My HTC Desire can see my router but cant connect though it but isn't asking for a password or anything. Cheers for any help its driving me mad!

Have you got Access List (filter by MAC ID) enabled in the router ? Could be excluding this new device.
