Why does the MSI 1070ti have a 8+6 power connector and advertise better overclockability?

As far as I know isn't the voltage control locked on 1070ti because Nvidia decided so? Wouldn't the extra power connector only help if you could add voltage?

They would not add an extra connector if peak current demands did not require it, so a parallel input would cut current in half on each input, vice drawing 100-150 watts from a single input path...

If your manufacturer describes the 2nd input as optional, that's up to you then, but, if you have an available connector, I'd use it....

Right but every other 1070ti on the market only has one 8 pin power connector. So far I think I've only the 1070ti Gaming X. I don't own it either but it is a bit curious.
