Question Why doesn't Firefox release memory?

I have like 10 videos open in Firefox tabs, I close them all and very little memory gets freed up. Why is that?

You would have to ask the developers of Firefox. That behavior could change depending on what version of Firefox you are running.

But that's not normal behavior for a program, right? If I closed these tabs which were holding video files (so, presumably, a lot of memory), that should register in Task Manager as less memory being used?
