Hi, today my EVGA 750 ti SC edition arrived and i took it out the box and replaced my old graphics card (gt 545) with it. But, when i booted up my computer, it went to the boot up screen where it shows the hp logo and it stayed there. After that i heard several beeps and after around one minute, i heard three more beeps and my pc shut down. On the box it says that i need a 400w minimum power supply but i have a 460w power supply! Please help!

My pc: HP Pavilion h8-1270ea

Oh. Yeah i think you're right. On the box it saids that it requires a minimum of 20 amps on the +12 volt rail. Does this mean i need a new PSU?

^ but afaik the 750ti runs on the motherboard power alone dont u think it might be his motherboard?

maybe u need a new bios update u should speak with the HP support

i just googled your motherboard + 750TI and u dont seem to be the only one with the same problem

Yes if that power supply is too weak. You might have a sticker on the side of your power supply that looks like this: http://www.xbitlabs.com/images/other/atx-psu8/7p4s.jpg. Tell me what is says under +12v and if it has more than one 12v rail then tell me what is says under +12v1, +12v2, etc.

What? It runs on the power supply's power. Where do u think the motherboard is getting that power from?

I doubt it the motherboard is pci 2.0 and it has a pci x16 slot there is no reason a 750 ti wouldn't work on his motherboard.

On the sticker, it saids:

MAX POWER: 460W

INPUT:
100-200V ~/ 8A, 50-60Hz

OUTPUT:
+12Va --- 15A
+12Vb --- 18A
+12Vc --- 10A

+5.08V --- 15A

+3.3V --- 14A
+5.08Vsb --- 2A
-12V --- 0.3A

Opps, sorry, i didn't mean to choose that as the solution.

The problem is, i have windows 7, and there is not setting in the BIOS that gives me the option to enable or disable secure boot and legacy boot

I have had this problem with several HP machines. HP doesn't like the 740 or 750's those are our two standard cards for customers and HP machines often won't make it passed that HP boot screen with them plugged in. In general HP and gateway PCI slots suck. Often won't take wifi cards or ethernet cards. We solved this by moving over ATI cards and problem solved.

Ok, i'm gonna restart my computer and give that a go. Btw, after i do that, should i put the 750 ti back into the slot?

My PSU has a 6-pin connector, but the 750 ti SC edition doesn't have a slot for the 6-pin connector.

Yah you can just leave it in. Make sure your psu has the 6pin connector and its plugged into the top the gpu first.

The super clocked edition does not have a slot for a 6-pin connector.

O okay sorry i was thinking of the ftw version. So you have the small one with one fan correct?
