Question Why doesn't my CPU work with some motherboards that claim to be "Ryzen 5000 Ready" ?

I just got a Ryzen 5 5500 to try and use it with 1 of my 3 motherboards that i have;

1. MSI b450m Mortar Max (updated to the latest BIOS version - supposed to support Ryzen 5000 new CPUs after the bios updating).

2. MSI b450m A Pro Max (also updated to the latest BIOS version just to be safe but it claims to be Ryzen 5000 ready out of the box)

3. Gigabyte b450m S2H (didn't update to latest bios but claims to be Ryzen 5000 ready out of the box)

However, to my dismay, I found that NONE of the 3 boards worked with the Ryzen 5 5500.
Is there a particular Bios version I should be using? I just updated to the latest version to be on the safe side. What do I need to do in order to use 1 of the 3 mentioned boards with my CPU?
Please help. No idea how to make it work with my CPU.

Hi, its brand new. Never used before. Except for the Mortar Max the other 2 boards are new as well.

3 mobos and not working implies the issue is the CPU. Even if new, it could be the issue.

The motherboards should have a status light for ram and cpu.
Both are on to begin with.
ram gets started first so if there is a ram issue, both the ram and cpu lights should be on.

Yes, I did use that Mortar Max previously with another CPU i.e. Ryzen 5 2600. Since then the 2600 turned out to be faulty, so I got this 5500 as its replacement. Regarding the symptoms, here's what I found;
1. The GPU & CPU fans were working and the board was showing signs of life, except that the monitor keeps showing that there's no HDMI connection signal to it. The board was in fact ON, whizzing and whirring as it normally would with any other CPUs installed. I have another test CPU that I use for testing purposes and it managed to work on all the boards successfully with the R5 1400. Its just that when I installed the 5500 it gives this "no HDMI signal detected" error message. The exact error message wordings I cant recall word by word but it was to that effect. That too only when I installed the 5500. When I tried the same with the 1400 I was able to post and get into BIOS settings successfully. This is the only symptoms I am aware of. Regarding the lights I am not familiar at all on how to see or tell which light is found where and for what those lights are. Those are completely beyond me. Sorry for that. What does the error message I mentioned mean? What shall I do regarding it?

Is this the same kit used with the 2600?
Ryzen ram support differs depending on the cpu.

Now....that could be a concern. I used some random named ram that i bought just 1 stick just for bench testing purposes to see if it can post or not. Its as below;

Wicgtyp Memory RAM DDR4 4GB 2666MHz

Could it be because of this ram? It did post & work with the R5 1400 though.

I tried again this time on my MSI A pro max with a brand new rams;

Kingston 2 sticks x 8GB DDR4 3200MHz Desktop Value Ram ( KVR32N22S8/8 )

Still unable to post. But using a speaker I was able to catch a 3 beeps. But its just for 1 cycle and it stops. No further beeps. The fans are spinning but no display output. On the monitor it says no HDMI signal detected. What could that signify?

Ryzen 5 5500 doesn't appear on the list?
There is three Ryzen 5 5000 series processors, that are supported. All of them start with 56...

Hey there,

When you updated the bios on all 3 mobo's, did you clear CMOS afterwards? If not you need to do this. Otherwise the old bios can leave remnants of microcode, that prevent the bios from functioning correctly.

Try it on all 3 and test again.

Some mobo's have a CMOS reset button on the IO panel. Most do not. You may have to to short 2 pins on the outer edge of each mobo, sometimes marked JBAT1, or CLRTC. You will also have to remove the CMOS battery before you short the pins. On some mobo's this may also require you to take out the GPU to access the CMOS battery.

Check your mobo manual to be sur.

Yes, I did reset the BIOS by removing the battery and reinstalling. Didnt help much.
