Question Why is my audio muffled when its being recorded?

I first noticed this problem when I got Discord, as whenever I was in a vc, the audio from my computer would become muffled until I left the vc, when it would then return to normal. I've tried updating some drivers, and following some guides, but the effect is still there. At first I didn't really care, as I wasn't usually on a vc, but then I wanted to have OBS open while gaming to have replay buffer ready, so if something cool happened I could record it, but upon opening OBS, my audio instantly went bad, and it would be unbearable to be always gaming with this broken audio. Does anyone know how to fix this? FYI I use a Windows 11 Laptop, and my sister, who has a laptop identical to mine, reports to have the same problem.

the issue seems to be related to one simple setting in Waves Maxx Audio if you have that in your laptop. You should open it up, then look for a setting called "reduce background noise on speaker". Disable it and test it out.

I do not have Waves Maxx Audio, but I do have Dolby audio, would this be something that would cause this issue?

any audio thing which has a background noise reduction setting. turn it off.

also, read the Reddit post, it had another fix as well in it. (in the comments)

I found a solution, bluetooth is messed up I guess, and does this automatically, and it can be fixed by using wired headphones. (Edit: changed cause and solution to what was actually the issue.)
