[SOLVED] Why is my cpu temp so high?

I have noticed my cpu running at 80-98° and my windows will start warning me. Load is low and I'm pretty sure 64° is too high to be just running google chrome with just 2 tabs. I had just reformat my pc to make sure there are no viruses and when I run games thats when the temp spikes up to 98°

My build is
Mobo: asus rox strix b360-H gaming
procie: intel core i5 8400
cpu cooler: nzxt kraken m22
ram: 2x8gb gskill ripjaws 2400
gpu: rog strix rx 580-oc 8gb
storage: sandisk 500gb ssd
toshiba 1tb hdd
wd 240gb ssd

What is the fan configuration inside the PC case? Have you tried to reapply the thermal paste?

everything is on auto and yes I have reapplied arctic mx-4 thermalpaste when I tried to check if there were airbubbles in my AIO nzxt kraken cooler

I meant, how many fans are configured for intake and exhaust?

maybe the AIO pump have problem? i have high CPU temperature when my corsair AIO died on me

If your AIO checks out as ok I would look at your Windows Power Plan settings...make sure it's on Balanced and not High Performance.

The system is definitely running a bit warm - most idle temps i'd expect to see around 30,40, 50c but 64 degrees on almost 0% load is high. I'd say the issue lies with your cooler - do you have the original cooler that came with the CPU? If you have some fresh thermal paste you could install that and check - if the temps get lower - you know the issue was with the Kraken cooler.

Can you check with another tool as well? Just to see if the NZXT is seeing it right.
