Why is my Laptop running slow

I'm having trouble with my laptop its a HP G61, I have tried a Defrag, disk check, ran Malware cleaner and also Avira. I cannot find my problem can anyone help please.

how old is the laptop? Have you ever cleaned the dust? Also check if you are running unneeded processes from msconfig

My laptop is 5years old, I have checked unneeded processes and I gave it a good clean 1 week ago using compressed air. Thank you for your help its much appreciated.
