[SOLVED] Why is my Laptop using tons of RAM for nothing?

Hello guys, I just recently discovered this while checking the task manager.

My RAM usage is always at around 40-50% while idle. It goes up to 60-70 only opening Firefox. My Laptop is a MSI GV72VR 7RF.

Some Specs:
16GB DDR4 RAM
GeForce GTX 1060
Intel Core i7-7700HQ / 2.80Ghz, 2801 Mhz, 4 Cores.

That is normal. Windows uses available free ram for file system caching.
If processes require more ram, then file system cache is reduced.

try closing some things that you don't really need running in the background either by just scrolling around and right clicking then clicking end task, or going onto your taskbar and clicking the upward arrow and right clicking and ending those tasks.

To prevent them from launching each time you open your computer, click startup and disable all except for the ones you need.

Yep, this is it. If you want to see what your system is like without the caching, pull one of the 8GB modules out and boot up. You'll find it's a lot slower doing the same things. 16GB is pretty much the new standard, which is unreal since I remember when 16MB was the standard!! 😱

tbh unless playing really resource intensive games, it should be fine.
