Why Is My Ping So High? {plz help}

I recently built a gaming PC. It is connected straight to my modem via Ethernet. My internet if fine, I believe, but when I try to play any game online (usually CS:GO), my ping is incredibly high. It will fluctuate between being in the 30's and 40's to being in the 300's, 500's and even 900's! I don't know what to do, and ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

I don't think it has anything to do with the driver, but hey! it doesn't hurt anyone to try.

So go ahead and try that.

Also, be sure to not download / buffer / casually surf the internet while playing since those are the factors that affect my ping while gaming.

I usually turn off the wi-fi while I'm gaming just to make sure that no one at home is downloading / buffering / or even using the net on any other device!

If the driver suggestion doesn't help and my suggestion doesn't help too then I see no reason for you to not contact your ISP customer care and seek their help.
