Hi!

Hope this won't sound like a idiotic question to you guys. I've seen a lot of persons (including some of my teachers) using Windows as the default OS on the Macbook. Any idea why this is more practical than getting a new PC/Laptop? I'm thinking about getting a new laptop as well, and might take into consideration buying a Macbook.

Thanks!

(I'm using my computer for programming, video editing and sometimes (barely) gaming).

Only because they like the feel of the mac hardware.

Sequence of events:
1. Buy a Mac, because that is what my crowd does.
2. Discover that many of the things I want to run, simply don't work on a mac.
3. Install Windows on it, because I already have the hardware.

Easier solution...just buy a Windows laptop to begin with.

There are many ways this can be done, Boot Camp/Parallels/Wine or Virtual Machines etc. PC's are cheap enough so there must be another reason people would want to do this, I can only imagine its software that cannot be run on OSX or mac hardware specifically that they want to use, some people just get a kick out of making something work on something that shouldn't... Either way scrap them both and use Linux. With regards to your laptop purchase id get possibly a top end developer XPS, 15 inches max, skylake CPU, DDR4 RAM.. i dunno man your choice. I would not buy a mac personally. However i will say the physical design (if you have ever taken one apart) and display are the only things that I really like about them. Plus i have an android samsung mobile so i have not bought into the ecosystem. The last Mac i owned was a 17" Macbook Pro which I liked alot.

Microsoft windows isn't for apple hardware, if you are studying programming.
You could have figured out that the programming languages are far different from each other,
Plus you will run the risk of facing a legal problem have a good read before responding back.

Bootcamp might be optional but you will run into problems.
