[SOLVED] why wont my internet speeds go past 20Mbps

im paying for 2Gbps internet and i get those speeds on all my devices exept my pc it wont go over 20Mbps ive done absolutley everything ive reset my pc ive tried everything i could find and nothings worked so far if anyone could help it would be appreciated

I guess first is to try to see if it is a software or hardware problem.

So the best way to eliminate software is to boot something like a linux usb image. There are many of these that run completely from the USB and have things like browsers installed. Some have other tools to troubleshoot broken installs but the simple web browser will run speedtest. It unfortunately will not show you what you need to fix in windows just that there is no hardware issue.

Since you have a second machine you can also try a old line mode tool called IPERF. This tests very basic transfer between machine in your house. Since it does not use web browsers, or disk or even much memory or cpu it will show if the physical ports are working and low level functions like drivers work.

I would also check your machine to be sure there is no so called "gaming" network software installed. This is garbage software you many times find bundled in the bloatware with motherboards or vide cards. Anything that claims to favor one kind of traffic over the other you want to uninstall.
