Question Why wont my pc boot after installing hdd?

Hi, I wanted to play more games on my pc so I formatted a wd green 1tb. But everytime I connect it to my setup, the pc wont boot.
I already have an m.2 ssd for my os, I only want to use the hdd to store games.
Specs:
Asus Z97 pro gamer
32gb ddr3 ram
I7-4790
Gtx 1650
256gb m.2 ssd
And the hdd im trying to install.

Ps: I dont have a case so I have to turn my pc on with a screwdriver.

You need to install windows on it. A computer won't boot off a blank drive. it needs an operating system.

No I mean, why wont my pc boot into bios or windows. The m.2 has the os, I want to use the hdd for games

Strange. It should at least get to the BIOS. It's unlikely, but possible that when the HDD is connected the mobo is prioritizing that first in the boot order. But it should move on to the SSD when it sees there's no OS on the HDD....

I just realised my sata modular cable was in the wrong spot (4+4 cpu). I put the connector right and now its booting properly.
