Ok, I am having the same issue.

I started the download for ff14 since the wife and I were thinking about playing that again and her download speed is 25 and mine is like... 1.4 and I started the download about 10-15 minutes before hers. Its driving me mad trying to figure this out. I thought for sure the cables were the issue but it doesn't seem that way.

*Edit* I just downloaded the Realtek ethernet driver since someone else said it might be that. No change. Specifically I downloaded the Realtek PCIe FE / GBE / 2.5G / 5G Ethernet Family Controller Software.

I wonder whether you were downloading the file from a different server than your wife.
Gaming companies have a lot of servers with different IP but with same domain name and rotate these servers frequently in order to do load balancing. You just happened to be directed to a very slow server quite often?

use Network Traffic View & CurrPorts to see if that's the case

And check ethernet link speed when it's slow. We don't care what led color it's blinking / solid because each vendor is different.

How do I check link speed?

Also, in previous tests on the front page of this thread it looks like I was routed to one server and my wife to another when we did the speed test. It might be a routing issue, I suppose. Not sure how I'd go about fixing that but I'll look into the links and do some google searches in the AM when I wake up. Thanks for the help!

Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, you will see connected network icon. Click the adapter.
