Hello, my wifi seems to be dropping after I updated to Windows 8.1

This was never a problem on Windows 8, but it was prevalent after the upgrade to 8.1

I have tried near on everything I could possibly think of. I've tried reinstalling the network driver, updating it. Everything listed here: http://www.registryrecycler.com/blog/2013/11/fix-wi-fi-connectivity-issues-in-windows-8-1/

And on top of that, I even did a fresh install of Windows 8.1, this problem does not occur with an ethernet connection.

It's driving me insane, and I can't find a cause nor a fix for this issue. I was hoping some of you could shed some light on this issue. My laptop is: Acer Aspire E1-571

Thank you :)

Solution
Ok

If not let's try multiband driver;

broadcomdriver > update driver software > uncheck compatible drivers > try any random broad-com 802.11n driver or 802.11 multiband driver.

Try the 802.11 multiband driver browse to the list and you should be able to find it.

On my laptop or router?

My router looked like this already:

The IPv4 Address on my laptop fluctuates between 192.168.0.102 and 192.168.0.103

And what would I add for the default gateway? That of my router that my ISP assigned or my router gateway?

Do I use this for the DNS option?

Does wireless work now? Don't mess with that option though in your router, the static IP addresses must be configured on laptop not router.

Go to the properties of network and sharing center > network adapter > ip4 > properties > configure static IP addresses.

Yeah I know not to mess with that 😛 I was just showing you if those are the numbers I use for the DNS settings on my laptop.

This how I have it laid out

Wireless appears to be working, but I'll post back if I get any wifi drops

Doesn't seem to be related to the phone, and moving it closer didn't help neither :/

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Network and Internet run Network Adapter.

Could it be that the drivers are just faulty? Even the most recent ones.

Remove your network profile ,
Please try this one >>> Remove computer record in the router, if that won't work resetting might work. Deleting the entry might work

and try this one >>> Guide below for deleting WiFi profile 8.1 OS

I'll try that one again when the wifi drops.

the link you sent me doesn't load 🙁

put address from static to automatic again and then run troubleshooter see if it can fix the problem automatically. the link works just fine for me 🙁 kind of strange that DHCP isn't enabled might want to restart router?

switch DNS to open DNS

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

and flush dns with this command (runasadministrator) ipconfig /flushdns

It appears that it automatically reverted itself back to automatic at some point, and I've just rebooted my router just now.

How do I switch DNS to open DNS?

Also wifi just dropped:

Had to install 9 updates whilst I was restarting my laptop, I'll let you know if there's any wifi drops :)
