Wifi Network Conflicting with router and extender

I have and Acer Aspire E 15 with windows 8.1 laptop and a network adapter of Qualcomm Atheros AR956X. I have a Dlink DSL 2750u router and a week ago I installed a Dlink N300 1330 WiFi extender in my home. As it didn't catch the connection on its own so I did the configuration through my laptop. It started to operate smoothly and other devices such as smartphones and other laptops connect to it and use the internet just fine. However after the configuration I tried to connect to the Dlink WiFi extender, it could not connect. I tried to connect it to the main router it would not connect. Now when I restart my laptop and turn off the Dlink Extender only then is my WiFi network search options shows the main connection and connect to it other wise if the WiFi extender is tuned on it would not even show or connect to the main router.

I am trying my network connections to "forget this network" but to no avail. If I open the show all WiFi connection my laptop would disconnect the WiFi connection with my main router and I would have to restart my laptop turn off the WiFi extender so that it can connect to the main router. The Dlink WiFi extender options would not show up in "manage the WiFi" options not it would "forget this network" if I try to right click on it from the list. I have also tried the following command after running command prompt in administration mode.

netsh wlan show profiles
netsh wlan delete profile name="[PROFILE NAME]"

here let me mentiond that the Dlink wifi extender is ON but it still would not show in the above mentioned commmand

I have also tried a similar command where it resets the ip address in command prompt but unfortunately that too did not work
I also went to device manager and my network adapter is working fine and active.

So how do I delete this wifi extender network connection because my network connection keeps conflicting between the main router and extender and I have to reboot and turn off the extender in order to connect to the internet. Not to mention even I click on the wifi connections on the show me avaliable list of wifi it agains disconnects my main router and I have to repeat the reboot and turn of the wifi extender exercise.

Your help would be highly appreciated

Thanks

Sarah

Hello

Thank you very much for such a prompt and accurate solution:), I have deleted that profile from my registry as well as gave a restart to the system, however due to unknown reasons, the problem remains and it is still showing in the wifi list and keeps on disconnecting etc,
What kind of problem do you think it is , is it hardware because the other laptops and smartphones including my smartphone are working just fine with the extender,
I also tried to connect it through the Dlink extender but it wont connect it through either.

but thank again

Did you by chance happen to setup the D-link extender to use the same SSID name (Read WiFi name) as your wireless router? Did you setup the extender to broadcast an unsecured network that doesnt require a password?

Extenders using the same SSID can cause issues with lots of devices. They will typically stay connected to the crappier access point instead of switching to the closer one unless you are using a mesh wifi network. If they use the same name, I would try defaulting the extender to factory settings and re-setting it up with a different SSID broadcasted.

Depending on the device and OS, its also possible that when using a unsecured connection, if the device knows of another SSID within range that is secured, it may prefer to use that one. Disconnecting from the unsecured SSID. Windows 10 sometimes does this because of "WiFi sense".

Hello again

Thank You very very much for your help... sorry it took so long to reply but I was having trouble resetting the wifi extender although I do not have windows 10 so I did not apply the Wifi Sense technique however the resetting method was more than helpful for my problem.

If I had to rate your answer ,... I would definitely give you 5 stars so thanks again :jap:

Thank You
