Wifi problem in Android

Hi. When I try to connect my android Gionee p2 to a WiFi network it gets stuck on Obtaining IP address and after that a message shows up saying Avoided poor internet connection. I tried to change the settings to Static IP by changing the IP address. It connected but then there was no internet access. I also tried apps like WiFi fix and WiFi fixer which did not solve the problem. There are more than 100 devices on this network. My phone too doesn't have an option to avoid weak connections. Any help? this network is not mine. it's of the school and I don't know where it is located but wanted to use it to get online help in some subjects.

This problem is usually fixed by changing WiFi Channels but since your smatphone is really on the low end it might be the problem..
