Wifi problems while transfering files through LAN

Hi
I have 2 notebooks set up with the modem/router than my IPS gives me, one is connected through cable to the modem and is the one thats always downloading stuff, and the other is the notebook I use through wifi with an intel 7260 ac.
The thing is that sometimes while transfering files the wifi from my notebook dies and windows troubleshooter says something about the default gateway or just doesnt say anything at all.
I read that it could be fixed entering to network IPv4 and setting an IP and default gateway.
Did that but still getting this same problem, any help, it has happened without transfering files through lan, but almost always when I do that?

either crappy network card that drops it or crappy router that can't sustain the connection. What fixes it? Does restarting the network connection or disconnect/reconnect fix it or rebooting the router fix it?

Maybe the download process is shocking the WIFI router? Can you insert an ethernet switch BEFORE the WIFI router and connect your downloading machine there?

Also, if you're downloading torrents, those things can open hundreds of connections to your downloading PC and saturate a lower end router.

Restarting the wifi card does the trick or windows troubleshoot (sometimes troubleshoot works sometimes it doesnt), but I have a Intel 7260 AC dualband.

EDIT: It wasnt downloading nothing last time it happened, like 30 min ago

jsmithepa, the modem/router that my ISP gives me has a round cable as the input not the usual network cable so its not posible to put a ethernet switch before it.
