Hi I'm wondering if I get a dedicated gtx 750ti for dedicated physx will it be powerful enough to keep up with the gtx 980 sli?

Please don't ask why I'm doing it, if you must know, upgrading my computer takes away from the stress in the world and I like to upgrade and wasting my money on things like this is neither here nor there, I love just making my computer better and the $100 for a dedicated graphics card is a small amount compared to the amount I spent on the EVGA GTX 980 SC sli in my rig. so focus on the topic please 😛

So the Physx Games I'm going to be playing will evidently be physx driven, I have the witcher amd borderlands and all the other physx games and the ones that will be coming out also.

Thanks allot in advance!

Solution
That probably depends on the game, but overall it does seem like an odd matchup., Plus, 980 SLI is
so damn quick, I doubt you'd need a separate card for PhysX anyway.

However, having said that, I entirely agree with your overall sentiment, I am of similar opinion these days. 😀

Hence, if you can afford it, then why the heck not! 8)

Thing is with the 750 Ti, it's 3D performance is quite good (almost akin to a GTX 580), but it's CUDA
strength is not that great (580 is way more powerful, but of course a 580 is a power hog and heat
chump). OTOH, 580s are cheap, I just bought ten 3GB 580s for only $90 each.

Hmm, a thought: if you did get a 750 Ti, could you test how at helps (if at all) for the games you like
which support PhysX, and if...

Alternatively, for a moderate saving, there do seem to be a heck of a lot of used 750 Tis on eBay
these days.

Ian.

PS. I've benched 1, 2 and 3-way 980 SLI, excellent performance. Here's my Firestrike Ultra result for 3-way.

Solution

sorry to bump an old thread but Im running a 980ti sli setup and Im wondering if adding a 750ti in the third slot dedicated for physx will help as well. Opinions?

I've read it I just haven't seen benchmarks or a final answer if it helped etc. I have a 750 I can install might just try it myself wasn't going to waste the time if someone had some numbers from experience. I was thinking about getting that new 950 low power card to sit in my bottom slot for physx. I figure the more powerful that 3rd card, the more boost youll get in overall performance.

There is no absolute answer. As I said, it will depend on the game, and with a 980 Ti SLI setup it may not matter anyway. My final point was why not just try it; if it doesn't seem to make any difference, then just send the card back for a refund.
