Well I want to get a new motherboard, but I want one with a PCIe 3.0 slot so I can upgrade to a newer card without having to get a new motherboard again, so I'm wondering; if I have a PCIe 2.0 card now (GTX 560) and I get a PCIe 3.0 motherboard, will the GTX 560 work in the PCIe 3.0 slot? And what about a PCIe 3.0 card in a PCIe 2.0 slot?

Thanks.

No, it won't. Ivy Bridge is an Intel Socket 1155 CPU. You would have to buy a Socket 1155 motherboard (Z68, P67, H67 chipsets) and CPU.

You won't have any problems using them in a 3.0 slot they are backwards compatible and you won't loose and performance and ofc you will need the cpu that supports it which is any ivy bridge cpu..just making sure you know that

Ok, so I need a special processor for PCIe 3.0 to work? Will an AMD Phenom 1090T x6 work with PCIe 3.0?
