Will a r7 250 work in a pci e 1.0 x16 slot

okay so i was wondering if i could put a r7 250 in a x16 pci e 1.0 slot and if it would work would there be any fps droping with it being in a older pci slot

I dont think it will fit but if it does it will only run at the PCIe 1.0 speed. It will bottleneck to run at that speed since it was desiged to run at PCIex3.0 speeds.

well what gpu would run with here are my specs if it help cause i will upgrade it in the future

Intel i3 3240t @2.9ghz
4gb ram
1tb hd

it just needs to run borderlands the pre sequel ant low to med

Try the Geforce GT610 it runs in a PCIe1.0 slot.

Not with out bottlenecking. Thats a PCIe 3.0 card and your board only has a PCIe 1.0 slot. I dont even know if it would fit correctly.

and iv'e been reading on the forums that people have a 7750 in a PCIe 1.0 x16 slot

No a PCIe3.0 should work in that slot however, it will only be able to run at 250GB transfer speed on that one lane. The PCIe3.0 card you have will have to throttle way down since it is designed to run at PCIe3.0 speeds.

Correct. Some people have said that it will and some say that it bottlenecks so bad that it doesnt work. Thats why I say it wont because I dont want to tell people it will work no problem than all of sudden nothing works.

The best would be the r9 285 but its 249.99 dollars. Try the Raedon 5450 HD its 65.00

They will bottle neck either way unless you have a PCIe1.0 card
