Hello! First post on the forums! I noticed a heatskin sticking out a bit and was worried it might be in the way of the card. I'm getting my Mom's old HP running for her, it has a Pentium E5400, and a 250w PSU in it, it's currently running a very lightweight distro of Linux however she still has trouble watching YouTube on it at the moment. I was wondering if that card would fit next to the heatsink and if not what should I get instead?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What is the model for your HP prebuilt? At this point the prebuilt should be 14 years old and if the PSU 's that old, then no, you shouldn't drop that GPU into the prebuilt. It'll fit, since it looks like the expansion slots are full height but I wouldn't drop it into that system.

Thank you! I hope I'm replying correctly, the PC didn't get much use in it's lifetime, probably less than a few months from back when she bought it in 2010 as she switched to a Laptop right after purchasing it. I think I'll risk installing it seeing the low up time on the machine as a whole. If you're still interested the model number is P6402F, it's a a HP Pavilion that originally came with Windows 7.

Your moms Hp has a low power CPU and the GPU your asking about
Being a dual-slot card, the AMD Radeon R7 250 does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is rated at 65 W maximum. for what your mom needs It should be fine.

Hope your mom gets back soon watching her videos
