I'm thinking of upgrading my wireless USB WLAN adaptor, but I cant figure out what to get, or if it will even make a difference. I have a 50 mbit internet connection, but my computer only reaches 10-17 mbit

My current WLAN setup:

My router is a 2,4 ghz (single band) 802.11n
My current USB adaptor is a Netgear WNA 3100 - 300 mbps - USB 2.0

If I should upgrade, what should I get?

Likely it will make no difference. USB2 can exceed both your 50m connection and the 300m wireless speed.

You likely have some form of interference. All you can try to do is to change the channels. Sometime it helps to force it to use only 20mhz channels. This will cut your max speed to 75 or 150 but you aren't getting that now so it worth trying.

Probably not. The download speed depends on you ISP. If you paid for 1.5Mbps download speed, you will not get higher that this value no matter what adapter you use. My ISP provides 30 Mbps download and my USB2.0 adapter is more than enough since its speed is up to 480Mbps.

I pay for 50 Mb/s, and get on average 60 Mb/s, peaking up to 90, and I have even seen over 100 for just a moment. I'm using a Motorola SB6141 and an ASUS RT-56U.
