If there is sucha thing, where can I find it? I thought SEs are the only ones that have that.

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

People have been suggesting the 9600 non pro (not SE). Much faster than the SE's and yes, no fan.

And yes the plain jane R9600non-pro-non-se will easily outperform the passive FX5200s and FX5600s. Pluss all three of those have better 2D quality than the GF4 series (Ti or MX).

I'm about to start a new quiet build for daily non gaming use. I have a NF7-S, Mobile XP2500+ to run 1.45v stock speeds, Antec SLK 3700 case. I am thinking about a R9600 non pro, a silent cpu heatsink, and possibly putting on a passive northbridge cooler on the NF7-S. Should be quiet if the only fans are the Antec smart power 350w and the 120mm rear case fan.

It will be replacing a KR7A-133R (KT266a)/Palomino 2100+ that runs quite hot and needs a bit bit too many rpm on the volcano 9 in the summers. The volcano 9 is quiet at 3000 RPM in the Winter months, but I need about 3400-3500 rpm lately.

Get a quiet PSU. I think it'll be worth it. I bought one of the fortron 300W ones for my family and it had a huge 120mm fan and I think it's a lot quieter than my Antec 400W.

I personally think my system is still too noisy. My next build will be dead silent if possible. The problem is that I want a top end videocard.

Then this should be your next case.

100% fanless computer! At $1,200, it's a bit expensive though. 😱

Hey stranger, it's been a while.

Too bad it was active. The only reason I'd buy the 9600 is that it is passive. Otherwise I'd fork over a few more bucks for a pro.

But I won't be gaming at all on this system. I just want something very quiet since the computer runs all the time in my family room. But I can't get myself to buy an SE so NP it is.

I had also thought of rigging up my own passive cooler on a R8500 64MB. Still an option I guess.

Most 8500 are better than current 9200! I had one for my old K6-2+ 500 and works perfect at 250/275.

Still looking for a <b>good online retailer</b> in Spain :frown:

As already posted: best passive GPU 9600np.

BUT best ratio 9550 (ALWAYS 128 bit). Goes for $75 at newegg and can be easily overclocked to 9600 levels.

I don't mean to be evil, but why in the world would you think that a card with fans would be passive?

*scratches head*

I think I've found myself a Nirvana of silent <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-342&depa=0" target="_new">gaming</A>😉

PoS: Newegg is not reachable lots of times lately, any body knows what's going on?

I take it he bought it by description only, without seeing a picture. At least I hope so.

Those are the Ultimate Editions I was speaking off, and they aren't cheap, but $174 isn't bad really considering it's only a fraction more than one with an HSF.

Of course Nirvanah would be the R9800XT UE or the 'announced' not even pre-orderable GF6800 from Galaxy I posted a while back. Sure the GF6800 kinda sux, but Passive!
