I just upgraded my mobo too an ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS and my CPU too an AMD FX-4170 Zambezi 4.2GHz (4.3GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor my. GPU is an ati sapphire 7850 and my monitor is an gateway FHX2402L. for some reason there is a black border around the screen (even at launch where BIOS is) and scaling/changing resolution is not doing anything.. the border is no bigger than 3 mm but it's driving me crazy not only because I am getting super low frames in Rift when my PC is overkill for that game but I wasn't having this problem with inferior hardware. Please help me I am raging hard @_@ I feel like I spent 300$ too google black border fix and to constantly find people saying to set scaling to 0% in CCC (it's called AMD vision engine control center now for some reason, apparently because I have an AMD GPU and CPU) I tried to adjust my screens vertical/height options in the main menu but for some reason it's greyed out and when I try to select it it just skips over it and goes to the next option :) help plox

I failed to mention I had to have my hard drive wiped and windows reinstalled, but I am confident that I downloaded all the drivers I need.

There is no way for me to plug my VGA cable into my motherboard, do I have to open the side of my PC for this?

2-3mm is extremely small and every display on the market will have some black border between the displayed image and the bezel. Most people don't notice the small black border due to only being 2-3mm in thickness....

yes but it should be equally sized on all sides, it's bigger on the left than it is on the right and it's bigger on the left and right than it is on the top and bottom.

The size of the border can vary depending on the exact position of the screen within the monitor's casing....

I'm more than certain it's the motherboard, I mean why else would the BIOS have the same problem if it was the GPU.? Unfortunately I let the guy at the shop keep my old acer mobo and intel CPU for a sick case with a bunch of fans built into it and amazing air flow : / I'm going to call asus tomorrow and update this thread and let everyone know what I find in case this happens to someone else and they don't know wtf is going on lol

case is also see through on the side and has a bunch of red/blue lights in it :p

Like I said tested on multiple monitors, 2 of which I played on for years, and the border wasn't there before. I think I just got a bad mobo

apparently it might be the RAM... it said it was ddr3 ram and that my mobo can sue any ddr3, but maybe there is more to it
