[SOLVED] Will GTX 680 Work With Optiplex 3020

Hello,

I am really new to building pc's i have never even built one so i want to start slow by upgrading my old PC
I can't find any post about GTX 680, or maybe i wasn't just looking in the right place
So i want to ask if you can put GTX 680 into optiplex 3020

My speculations is that the power supply will not handle it
but i would like a clearer answer so if someone could help me i would appreaciate it

Well you need to list your specs
Maybe use CPU-Z if you don't know
Physically look at your PSU and give wattage

i dont think that you need to know my optical drive + prephicals + audio
thats all that i got in optiplex 3020 btw its the smaller version with i3

OK Got your specs, but need your PSU specs.
Should be on a label on the side of the PSU (you will probably have to remove the side panel of your case)

GTX 680 on full load will consume alone about 325W.

You need good 550-600W PSu for that.

You should get 1050ti - it's as good as gtx 680 and consumes about 75W. Maybe this psu will handle it.

Also it would be good to get 8gb of faster ram memory, like 1600mhz and sell those 4gb.

It's a terrible idea to use a GTX 680 in any PC in 2019.

Go for similar performance GTX 1050 Ti.

It's by far the best GPU you can use with your system without having to upgrade the power supply.

and add another 4 GB DDR3 Samsung Stick 1600 MHz

A 240 GB SSD will also be helpful. (Crucial MX 500)
It makes a big difference in performance.
