Will I bottleneck?

Hi all,

Looking to get some new graphics card soon and just wanted to check I wouldn't run in to a bottleneck anywhere else in my system. The cards in question will be 2 x GTX 980 in SLI. My current specs:

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Series MAXIMUS VI HERO
CPU: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz
PSU: EVGA Super NOVA 850w
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16gb @ 2133Mhz
Storage: Crucial M500

Not sure if any other specs are relevant, just ask if required.

Whats your power supply? The rest are good and you shouldn't run into any bottlenecks with these components.

The only logical next step up would be stepping over to an i7, but as I understand it the hyperthreading cores don't do much, if anything, for I/O in regards to the video cards... so you're good on that front. The only conceivable bottleneck might be in game load times... maybe another Crucial M500 for Raid?! 😛

Oops good point - added the PSU to the list.

Good to know I'm ready to go thanks. Hah, don't tempt me with an i7 (6 core anyone?) or RAID set up!

Nope, you won't bottleneck with any of those components.

I do agree you could add a SSD if your budget allows.
