So I just bought the msi b360 and currently have the i5-7400 processor. Just wondering if the processor is compatible with the mobo. Pcpartpicker hasn’t updated their mobo’s yet so couldn’t double check although on the description it said it supports all i5 and i7 models.
Cheers!

To those that require it I think intel does not include one of the VT-X or VT-D for virtualization in the K chips that the non-K have both. And a K chip has no cooler so there is an extra cost over a non-K with a stock cooler.

I like the I5 8400 6 core for its value, it's performance ties with the I7 7700 4 core 8 thread. But the 8700K is 6/12 and does well for it's extra cost.

300 series for 8th gen only, 7th takes 200 series or an updated 100 series

G5400 two core four thread $70
I3 8100 four core $120
I5 8400 six core $180
I7 8700 six core twelve thread $333

Pentium and I3 use 2400 ddr4, I5 and I7 use 2666 ddr4

Or get a board for the 7400
