My cpu is an AMD FX 6100 4.2GHZ OC... And my gpu is Sapphire R9 280 Dual x oc 3gb..
My question is: will my gpu be bottlenecked by this cpu ?

-Im asking because im having some hard frame drops when im trying to max a game.

Thanks in addition,

Adam could you please tell me if it would be the same if i oc my gpu from catalyst software ? I also have the Sapphire trixx app but it has something extra (it's called VDDC). What's that ? And please tell me what the best software to oc my gpu . Sorry if i made any grammar-vocabulary mistake, english is not my main language 😀

VDDC = Core voltage 😉

Technically it should do the same job! But afterburner comes with temperature gauges, GPU and CPU usage %, VRAM use... Fan profiling to modify your cooling potential...

Trixx should do just as well, but I've always preferred Afterburner for the extra functionality 😛

So i would use Afterburner, and Download some 3d benchmarks to compare results if you want to OC to the max Mhz (I did, but this takes lots of time! But then again you get 100% max performance)
so Furmark, MSI Kombustor... Any that you feel are right or look good 😀 They all do the same job (To ensure perfect stability I would try 3 different ones : Furmark or Kombustor, 3d mark firestorm and Unigine Heaven or Valley to get a good variety).

Once you are happy with playing around, get an idea of what does what.. You can think about pushing the card to it's maximum.

Read up on what the terms mean before overclocking it. Just to get a picture of what you are doing and why 😀
Enjoy the performance increase!

Adam could you please tell me what to adjust firtst in msi burner ? And actually how to start .. im really confused :S
Sorry i have no idea in GPU's overclocking 🙁

I presume your temps are good? No point in adding more power to a card that's already heating up

Did you try gaming in 1080?
You should first watch a YouTube tutorial and/or at least read up on the technical terms of what you are about to do!

Do you have stock cooler for your CPU,at start you told that you OC it to 4.2 ghz??if your are on stock cpu will heat up fast and for LoL just disable shadows set fps limit to 144 vsync off and disable AA and you will have nice fps.on my setup i dont go belove 50 fps even in full team fights.

I have a 212 evo cooler and the max temp is 50 C even in fc4 .. But dude we are talking about r9 280... i paid so much money to play games in very high settings... come on lol is shitty game, how is possbile not to max it ? :/

Yea the temps are good (Max 65 C ) I tried gaming in 1080 but its still the same... big fps dropps...

It depends how is game coded to take advantage of hardware.FC4 have problems with AMD cards.Like i say next time try to play LoL wih no vsync and fps set to 144 limit, and try to set your Power Profile to High Performance when you game. Also your mother board is not ment for overclocking you are probably getting thermal throttling your VRM dont have heatsink so they probably run rly hot and make your VRM hot as hell. Also 65 is hot for AMD CPU while gaming max is 62 what you want on cpu and socket also.

The last one you said, how im gonna enable it ? I searched all the web and i did not find anything :/

That is a good mobo! AMD temps are usually higher than Intel.. I'm not sure where you get your information from! (AMD's Generally use more power = More heat )

Yes, Ultimetley the i5 would be a better option! But that means spending more money!

Your CPU temps are good!
Is the GPU in the fastest PCI-E Slot? Are all it's power connectors plugged in to the card? If so that rules out these possibilities!

Read up on GPU OC'ing technical terms, maybe watch a few quick YouTube tutorials! If you would like a detailed explination/Guide from my behalf after this I will do so. But it's reasonably straight forward. There are plenty of good threads on these forums about OC'ing GPU's.. And I'd look on ''LinusTechTips'' YouTube or maybe ''NCIX'' This guys does a lot of good stuff!

Or come back here if you are still finding it hard to understand. Best of luck!

The mobo i got now has only one pci e slot and its the fastest one ... Im still wondering if the new mobo will make my gpu run faster-better.. Let's hope that it will be better... i still have the GPU's warranty. Shall i wait for the new mobo to arrive and tested if it's the same or change it with a free new one immediately ? Sorry for the late response i was working.

It will go better for sure, cuz difference between those 2 boards are HUGE.You will have Higher and better OC and more stable,no more thermal throttling since new mobo supports up to 220W CPU and has tons for heat sinks to keep chipset and VRM's cool.
