Will it work?

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card on my PC and have decided to buy either the GTX 1060 or the GTX 1060 mini. I don't really know how to work with computers at all so I have gotten somebody to do the work for me they said they will just require the parts that work. My question is will I be able to get him to replace my current GTX 750 with either a GTX 1060 or GTX 1060mini? Is there anything that I need to do to see if it works? I got somebody else to build this PC so I don't really know what I'm doing with it. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I just want to be sure when upgrading my PC and I don't want to waste his time and give him something that doesn't work. All answers are greatly appreciated!
thanks - pat

It will strongly depend on the power supply that you currently have. The Gtx 750 only has a power rating of 55 watts, whereas the Gtx is a bit more power hungry at 120 watts. If the other components dont have a demanding power draw (gpus are a huge amount of that power) then it would be advised to also get a new power supply. My current setup is a 970 and an i7 7700K with some other mid range parts and is working fine with 500 W power supply. Just double check your power supply, but the 1060 is considerably better than the 1060 mini. This seems like a sensible upgrade though.

Edit:

You may also need to check the power connectors to your GPU. If the power supply does not have the cable for the GPU (6pin or 8pin) then there is no way to power it. The mini uses 6 pin and the 1060 6GB uses 8 pin.
This may or may not be an issue with your power supply.

The 1060s use more power than a 750, so it's possible that your power supply has no 6 or 8 pin pci-ex connector. In that case, a 1050 Ti would be the best possible upgrade for you.

It might be possible to upgrade your power supply so that you can use a 1060, if your current power supply does not have the connector. That's more expensive though, since it would require you to purchase two items.

Single fan vs dual fan mostly depends on your case. If you run a small case where space is at a premium, a single fan card might be your only option. Otherwise get the dual fan.

Alright how would I determine if my other compontents have a demanding power draw or not? Is there anything specific that I have to check? And I actually don't know what power supply I have so is there anything specific I can do to check that also? And honestly I don't even know if I have space for the 1060 regular but it is the one I hope to get, as I have actually never been inside this PC (friend built it 2 years ago) Sorry about all these questions but I really appreciate your replies.

Is there a way to check which pin connector I have? thanks for the reply, I don't know how to see how much space I have but I do hope to get the 1060 regular. thanks i appreciate the reply.
