Hello guys,

I have my old 1155 Asus P8H61-M LE, Intel H61, it's a DDR3 mobo nothing fancy. So, could i just upgrade to the Pentium g4560, without having to buy any new MoBO, DDR4 ram and such, since i am not a that hardcore gamer? And how can i know if any other old MoBo will Support the new Kaby Lake CPU's? Since i plan on building 2 pentium rigs, for me and my brother.

Thanks in advance!

If you know the motherboard model number, all you need to do is look up it's CPU Support List and see if the new Kaby Lake processors are listed there and, if they are, what BIOS version is required to run them.

For instance, from your other thread:

ASRock B150M Pro4S/D3 CPU Support List.

The Pentium G4560 is listed as supported with BIOS version P7.00

If you look up your cpu at Intel's ARK website, you'll find all the specs and info on your intel cpu, including it's the socket info (i.e. LGA 1151 for the one you listed). As pointed out above, only the latest 1151 boards (2xx, e.g. "b250" or "z270") will come with the latest bios for kaby lake support. If you choose to go with one of the earlier boards, you'll need to update the bios from the manufacturer's site.
