I was going to upgrade my GPU because it's only a GT 720 right now, and was thinking of buying the GTX 1070, but I wanted to make sure my computer would work with it.
Specs:
Intel i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60 GHz
24 GB RAM
Dell 0kwvt8 Motherboard
22.2 x 20.7 x 15.1 inches Case

If it matters what version I'm planning on getting you can find it here

i am pretty sure the xps8700 motherboard is standard micro-ATX board, with PCI-E x16 gen3 supported. You should be able to upgrade to 1070. Changing to new board is too much hassle. Your OS is OEM and changing to a after-market board will void your OEM OS and you have to buy a new one.

I don't know the power and it's not on there but I'm about to open up my case to find the power supply. Will edit when I find it out.

Edit: Fairly certain I have a 450w supply. I don't think it would power the 1070, so what power supplies will work with the 1070 and how much do they cost?

The dell 450w power supply should be able to handle 1070 if not overclocking.

If you want to upgrade to new power supply, get a decent 550w or more, like EVGA G2 550w which usually runs around 60 to 80 usd.

The thing with prebuilds is that they're sometimes crazily Limited in terms of upgradability.
These OEM boards and cases sometimes come at special sizes so you can't fit any other board into the case, with specs and Software especially made for this comfiguration that won't accept any other hardware
